Service & Leadership Skills in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand

Student activities will include team-building exercises, a Thai cooking class, a hike and the completion of a community service project. The service project will be the focus of the programme and it will involve improvements made to a village school. Project is undertaken with the goal of improving living conditions and/or access to education in the region, which is populated with ethnic minority groups.

Your service project will involve the construction or refurbishment of buildings at a village school whose student body is made up of such people. More details will follow.


Day 1       HK - Thailand - Chiang Mai

Day 1

Orientation; Swim; Group Discussions                                                                        Arrive at Chiang Rai Airport and transfer to the Maekok River Village Resort (MRVR) by coach (75 minutes). After settling in, students will undergo an orientation and should then have time for a swim before dinner. Group discussion on the upcoming programme and time for journaling and reading are scheduled before bed

Day 2        Team Building & Rafting

Day 2

Raft Building, followed by a race down the Maekok River!                                              In the late afternoon students will enjoy various confidence building exercises such as wall climbing and obstacle course running.

Day 3        Service Work, Teaching & Games

Day 3

Introduction to your community improvement project and begin the construction project.                                                                                                                      Students will also spend part of this time playing games and/or delivering lessons to the younger local students. After dinner, group discussions and time for journaling and reading will be scheduled. Evening games will follow.

Day 4         Service Work, Thai Cooking & Discussions

Day 4

Community improvement project, with Thai cooking in the afternoon.                                      In the afternoon, after a farwell ceremony, you will be taken to the MRVR Cooking School. Here you will learn to cook your own Thai dinner, which of course you will then eat! We have also scheduled group discussion and journaling time after dinner. Evening games will follow.

Day 5 Hike & Home

Day 5

Enjoy a hike along the river after breakfast. Depart for airport after lunch.
